The Rules: A good journalist checks his facts. He does not rely on hearsay or the opinions of others. He never uses his power of the press with malice. If he uses or quotes another source, he checks his sources for accuracy, inaccuracy or bias. There has been much written about the Barbara Bauer Literary Agency.
Round 1
"Barbara Bauer granted herself her own English degrees. "
The Source: "The Fisher Report: The Genteel Racket" written by
Professor James "Jim" Fisher, Chairman, Dept. of Political Science and
Criminal Justice, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, distributed and
sold by Prof. Fisher out of Edinboro Univ. of PA, The National Writers
Union, NY, and Bill Martin of Agent Research and Evaluation, PA.

Unscrupulous people use the internet in order to create monopoly, to discourage healthy competition in the marketplace. Unhealthy competition hurts everyone in the long term with fewer options, poorer services and higher prices. BE A WISE CONSUMER. CONSIDER THE SOURCE BEFORE YOU MAKE A DECISION TO DO BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY THAT PRIDES ITSELF ON DESTROYING THE REPUTATIONS OF OTHERS.

The Source: Miss Snark, the Literary Agent
FACT OR FICTION?
The Answer: Fiction
The Facts: Barbara Bauer is the agent of record for all of the
book covers shown on the Barbara Bauer Literary Agency's web site. The
problem with the internet is that anyone can post anything about
anyone. Cowards and people without morals use the internet to create
monopoly. Monopoly hurts consumers by driving up prices and by limiting
service options. A wise consumer will consider the source before
choosing to do business with a company that prides itself on destroying
the reputations of others.

as well as from professionals and other notable people."

attention to facts, not hearsay or malicious gossip. The problem
with the internet is that anyone can post or blog ANYTHING about
anybody. Unscrupulous businesses use the internet as PROPAGANDA
in order to create MONOPOLY. Monopoly hurts consumers by driving
up prices, cutting back services, and putting millions of people
out of work. A strong economy is best for everyone. Be
a wise consumer and look into the motives of those who seek to
make business opportunities and jobs go away in our modern world.
Round 4
"Miss
Snark the Literary Agent is the pen name of a prominent New York
literary agent who works in a literary agency in the 212 area code
and who writes a blog about publishing."
The Source: Writers Digest, Wikipedia and
others
FACT OR FICTION?
The Answer: Fiction
The Facts:
Miss Snark the Literary Agent is a
digital media advertising campaign. It is the brainchild of Juan
Lopez, Jessica Meyers and Kim Stevens, none of whom are working
literary agents in New York City. The Miss Snark hoax was run of
of three states, Arizona, Missouri and Florida. Several
organizations, including publicly-traded companies,
publicly-funded nonprofits, and other individuals were involved in
creating and spreading the stealth advertising campaign which was
targeted to consumers of literary agency and other
industry services. The widespread fraud and deceptive trade
practices have resulted in massive layoffs at many publishing
houses around the country as consumer confidence is shaken.
